SOCIAL CARE CONSULTANT

Mary Maughan is founder of MPM Social Care Consultancy. She is a dual qualified general and mental health nurse, registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) since 1985. She has attained a BA (honours) in Social Sciences and MSc in Policy and Administration. More recently, Mary has achieved a Master of Laws (LLM).

Mary has worked in the NHS within both physical and mental health nursing. She achieved positions at ward management level in the general sector and head of inpatient mental health services before leaving the NHS and entering the private sector in social care in 2005.

Since then Mary has been a Registered Manager in nursing and residential care homes and worked as operations manager for corporate social care providers, as well as owning a domiciliary care service, which achieved three compliant CQC inspection reports. For these positions, Mary achieved the required Leadership in Management Certificate (LMC).

In social care, Mary has worked within specialities’ such as care of the elderly, learning disabilities, dementia care, adult home care, and head injury services.  Mary has extensive skills in change management and crisis intervention and is a skilled auditor. Her knowledge of Social Care legislation is substantial as is her ability to understand the law and apply related legislation. Her passion is quality and clinical governance. Therefore as a social care consultant, she supports social care providers to transform their services so they can deliver excellence in health and social wellbeing for their Service Users.
